Mesa Man Arrested After Robbing Credit Union and Fleeing on Scooter

by

PHOENIX — A Mesa man was arrested last week after allegedly robbing a credit union and attempting to flee on an electric scooter, federal authorities announced Friday.

Terrell Maurice Mars, 47, was charged by criminal complaint after the incident on April 18, 2025, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona.

Authorities said Mars entered a credit union in Mesa, brandishing what appeared to be a handgun, and ordered employees and customers to get down. He demanded money from both the tellers and the bank manager, who complied.

After leaving with the stolen cash, witnesses saw Mars fleeing on a scooter. Mesa Police officers quickly responded and found him hiding under a truck at a nearby apartment complex. Officers recovered the stolen cash and located a hot glue gun near Mars that resembled the weapon seen in surveillance footage.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is leading the investigation, with assistance from Mesa police. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jacqueline Schesnol is handling the prosecution.

Authorities reminded the public that a criminal complaint is merely an allegation and that Mars is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
