The Phoenix Public Library is expanding its role in community wellness by offering free blood pressure monitoring kits for checkout at 15 locations across the city.
In partnership with the American Heart Association, the initiative gives Phoenix residents the opportunity to monitor their blood pressure at home using clinically validated Omron BP7250 devices. Each kit includes an arm cuff, an electronic monitor, a quick-start guide, an instruction manual, and tracking logs. Materials are available in English and Spanish at most branches, while the Agave Library offers bilingual English and Mandarin instructions.
Library cardholders can check out a kit for up to three weeks at participating branches, while supplies last. The items must be returned directly to a service desk — not through book drops — and cannot be renewed or placed on hold.
Library officials say the program aligns with ongoing efforts to make wellness resources more accessible to residents who may not have regular access to medical equipment. “Our goal is to empower people to take charge of their health through free, convenient tools,” a spokesperson said.
