Gilbert Police said students reported seeing the teen in possession of a firearm on the morning of April 15. The school was immediately placed on lockdown as officers searched the area.

The suspect was later located off-campus in a nearby neighborhood and taken into custody without incident. The firearm was also recovered in the same area.

During the investigation, officers learned the teen was also connected to a residential burglary that occurred in Gilbert on April 12.

The student was booked into the Durango Juvenile Center on the following charges:

  • Disorderly conduct (A.R.S. § 13-2904)

  • Burglary (A.R.S. § 13-1507)

All students were reported safe, and the school lockdown was lifted just after noon.

The Gilbert Police Department continues to work with school administrators and reminds the public that the charges are allegations. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
